A Wealdstone man admitted allowing 17 people to live at his home in Stuart thus contravening thus regulations against overcrowding dwellings, when he appeared at Harrow Court on Friday.
Mr P. Boeuf, the solicitor prosecuting Mr Jayane Maniebhai Patel on behalf of the Borough of Harrow, told the court: "The council has not been happy about bringing this prosecution at all, particularly in view of the political situation, but mainly because of the unreasonableness of the accused, they had no option but to bring it.
Mr Patel told the court: "My sister, brother-in-law and their five children came from Uganda and had no place to stay. They could not afford to rent a house at £35 as week"
He was fined £3 and ordered to pay costs of £2.
