The number of Ugandan Asian children at Harrow schools is changing so rapidly from day to day that Harrow Council is unable to give any figures at all.
So much so that in 24 hours any figures issued might become misleading, said Mr Ron Raby, Harrow Council's public relations officer on Wednesday.
When asked whether this meant the council's Education Department did not have any idea how many Asian children to expect at its schools the next day he replied: "To some extent, yes."
