Emergency plan to shelter Asians
An emergency accommodation plan is ready to be, put into action in Harrow should the borough suddenly find itself with an infux of Asians from Uganda.
School and church halls would be turned into temporary hostels, said Cllr. Benard Perigoe, vice chairman of the Policy and Resources Commitee, should any appreciable number of Asians arrive in the borough.
Special arrangements were made for the Bank Holiday and the Council were ready to call out kitchen staff employed by them to cook meals.

NOT ASKED

But, Cllr. Perigoe said the borough had not been asked by any Goverment department for any details of its plans and would not be volunteering any information of the borough's preparedness for any influx.
He indicated that although this was perhaps passing the problem along the line Harrow was not in a position to cope with any Asian wanting permanent residence.
