The Citizen's Advice Bureaux in Harrow were flooded with
enquiries from Ugandan Asians looking for homes, the Deputy Mayor of Harrow,
Cllr. A.J. Lovell (Lab., Wealdstone North), told meeting of Harrow Housing
Committee las week.
But this was denied by the vice-chairman of the Harrow Citizen's Advice
Bureaux Committee, Mrs E.A. Wray on Tuesday morning.
Cllr. W. Garvey (Lab., West Harrow), asked the Housing Committee what
the effect of the influx of Ugandan Asians would be on the housing situation.
He was told by a Council officer that any Ugandan Asian applicant would
be issued with the usual housing regulation forms.
Ald. A.A. Fawthrop (Lib.), said he thought the majority of Asians coming
into Harrow would have somewhere to go.
