An order "for the supply of then mobile classrooms to cope with the Ugandan Asian immigrants" has been placed by the Education Committee's Sites and Buildings Sub-Committee.
The action of Cllr. C.B. Harrison (Lab., Wealdstone North) in approving the placing of the order as chairman of the sub-committee, was confirmed by the sub-committee at its meeting on Wednesday.
Cllr. Harrison told the meeting the classrooms were in the estimates for purchase anyway, and they ordered them in advance of requirements because they did not know what conditions might prevail.
They would be used for other children at other times for the purposes, but the decision to order them now was linked with the possibility of having an influx of immigrant children.
