A Harrow headmaster says that if the numbers of Ugandan Asians entering his schools continues at the present rate, some subjects will have to be dropped from the timetable.
Mr H.I. Brown, headmaster of Whitefriars School, Wealdstone, said at the school's prizegiving on Wednesday: "I can see no place for them, if the numbers continue coming in at the present rate. Already the third year is full, and we cannot take any more without saying goodbye to subjects such as handicraft."
Turning to the Director of Education who was on the platform with him, he said: "I know Mr Ball, is aware of the situation and will do all he can to help us."
After the speech Mr Brown told the Observer that since June he had taken 24 Ugandan Asians into Whitefriars.
