Cllr.Cyril Harrison, leader of the Labour Group on Harrow
Council, publicly criticised the Harrow Observer at a meeting of the Education
Sites and Buildings Sub-Committee on Wednesday.
His critism was directed at a report in last week's Midweek Observer informing
the public that Harrow Council had approved the purchase of up to 20 houses
to provide rented accomodation for the Ugandan Asian families wishing
to live in the borough, subject to the Goverment and Uganda Resettlement
Board accepting the expenditure involved for grant purposes.
Up to ten other houses were to be rented for limited periods to bridge
the time lag between concluding negotiations and obtaining possession
of the houses.
